2017

What happens when humans become too reliant on technology in their everyday lives?

2017 is a gripping 3D-animated short based on F.T. Marinetti's Futurist Manifesto, in which he cautions us against our tendency to adopt and depend on technology as the solution to all of our problems, with no regard for safety or ethics.

I modeled, rigged, and animated the assets and original character design in Maya.

bristol

Bristol is a short film focused on the protagonist, Sean, and his inability to define reality during his date with Bristol.

I filmed, directed, and edited this short. cowritten with Ian Tate.

the end of the string

The End of the String was created using hand-drawn frame-by-frame cycles created in Photoshop, and composited in After Effects.

This animation is based on my short story, which was published in The End of an Era, a collection of illustrated stories created by several students at NC State's College of Design.

ian's dance

Rotoscoped at 12 frames per second in Photoshop, Ian's Dance amplifies the dancer's beautiful rhythm with a layer of imagination.

fish out of water

Fish Out of Water was created in response to the question: what happens when there's no drinkable water left? The question was open-ended—is there no drinkable water in the world? In certain parts of the world? In one person's house?

I chose to approach the question from the perspective of the animals whose habitats were destroyed by the lack of clean water, and focused on one catfish who has been separated from his friends.

The original characters were hand drawn in Photoshop and manipulated using in After Effects through a combination of frame-by-frame drawings and After Effects' puppet tool.
